India Secures Semifinal Spot as Group ‘A’ Winners

Kathmandu – India earned a spot in the semifinals of the CAVA Women’s Challenge Cup as Group ‘A’ winners, triumphing over Nepal in the final group stage encounter.

The highly anticipated clash between hosts Nepal and arch-rivals India took place at the NSC Covered Hall on Wednesday, captivating spectators with its intense gameplay. Ultimately, India emerged victorious, defeating Nepal with a scoreline of 3-1.

India dominated the opening set, displaying exceptional skill and coordination to secure a comfortable win with a score of 25-12. Despite putting up a valiant fight, Nepal failed to overcome their opponents’ prowess and narrowly lost the second set by a score of 24-26.

Undeterred, Nepal mounted a spirited comeback in the third set, rallying together to claim a 25-21 victory. However, their hopes were dashed in the fourth set as India rallied and emerged triumphant with a score of 25-21, sealing the match and securing their place as Group ‘A’ winners.

As the group stage concluded, Nepal found themselves in the runner-up position, setting the stage for an exciting semifinal clash against Group ‘B’ winners Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, India, having topped Group ‘A’, is set to face off against Group ‘B’ runners-up Uzbekistan in the semifinals. The eagerly anticipated semifinal matches are scheduled to take place at the NSC Covered Hall on Friday.
