Hosts Lalitpur Mayors XI finishes winless

Kathmandu – The hosts Lalitpur Mayors XI concluded their Lalitpur Mayor Women’s Cricket Championship journey without registering a single win throughout the tournament. In their final round-robin match on Tuesday at TU Cricket Ground, the hosts lost to Nepal APF Club by 37 runs.

Likewise, the departmental side advanced to the final of the championship remaining unbeaten. None of the participating teams found a victory over APF in the round-robin match.

Rajmati Airee’s all-around performance helped APF defeat the hosts. Rajmati scored an unbeaten 41 runs and also claimed two wickets in APF’s victory.

Despite having a poor start to the inning, Rajmati’s innings propelled APF to a total of 110/6 in 20 overs. APF’s top order batters Jyoti Pandey, Sita Rana Magar, Indu Barma, and Roma Thapa departed cheaply for 6, 19, 7, and 4 runs respectively. The number fifth batter Rajmati then smashed 4 fours to collect the highest of 41 runs off 52 deliveries for her side. Moreover, Binu Budha (12), Sarita Magar (6), and Manju Bokati* added 2 runs to the tally.

Lalitpur’s Seemana KC and Shrisit Jaisi took two wickets each, while Sony Pakhrin and Manisha Upadhyay took one each.

Later, while chasing the winning target of 111 runs, the hosts managed to score only 73 runs, losing eight wickets playing the full innings. Sony Pakhrin was the top scorer for the losing team with 15 runs off 19 deliveries. Laxmi Chaudhary and Seemana KC contributed 10 runs each, while other batters failed to reach double figures.

Kiran Kunawar (3), Kanchan Shrestha (6), Helisha Gurung (3), Asmina Karmacharya (3), and Shristi Jaishi added 7 runs to the total. Sujata Thapa and Ranju Shrestha remained unbeaten on 4 and 0 runs, respectively.

Player of the match Rajmati Airee was the pick of APF’s bowler claiming 2-7 with 1 maiden over. Binu Budha also took two wickets, while Indu Barma, Sita Rana Magar, and Susha Shrestha claimed a wicket each for APF.
