Hosts Gandaki Province found a winning start in the third Tiger Cup. The hosts thrashed Nepal Police Club (NPC) in a straight set in an opening match at Pokhara Rangashala.
NPC earned 23, 20, and 16 points past Gandaki in three sets which were not enough for the victory. Likewise, Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) went down to Nepal APF Club by 3-1 in the first match under the men’s event.
TAC, who won the first set by 20-25 failed to win further. Nepal APF then defeated TAC by 25-22, 26-24, and 25-19 to begin the tourney with a win.
Moreover, TAC beat Hongwangji New Diamond Sports Academy uninterrupted in the first match under the women’s event. The competitive clash resulted in TAC’s favor.
TAC achieved the victory in a straight set of 3-0 scoring 27-25, 25-17, and 25-23.
A total of 9 teams including 4 women’s and 5 men’s teams are competing in the third edition of Tiger Cup. Both the champion teams will purse NRs. 5 Lakhs each, while the runners-up will receive NRs. 2.5 Lakhs.
Similarly, the Best Player of each match will be rewarded with five thousand and a health checkup facility equivalent to three thousand rupees. The best player in both events will receive NRs. 25,000 and the best in each category will get NRs. 10,000.
