Kathmandu – The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on Sunday announced the Nepal National U-19 Cricket team to compete in ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Asia Qualifier UAE 2023.
The head coach of U19 side Jagat Tamata had left out 4 players from his 18-membered preliminary squad. Prajwal Thapa, Nirmal Thapa, Tul Bahadur Thapa, and Rajesh Yadav are the left outs. Even so, they have been kept in reserves.
The 14-membered final squad consists of 8 faces, who made it to the squad for the first time. However, the CAN is yet to announce the captain. Dev Khanal and Gulsan Jha, who had played for the senior national team earlier are the prospects.
UAE will host the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Asia Qualifier which is scheduled to be held in February this year. Hosts UAE along with Nepal, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Malaysia, and Singapore will compete in the qualifiers. Nepal and Kuwait are taken as the favorite rivals.
