Kathmandu – George Munsey picked up his maiden ODI century as Scotland confirmed the title of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 defeating Namibia by 10 wickets with 167 balls in spare at TU Cricket Ground.
Scotland, who won the toss, and decided to bat second, chased the winning target of 154 runs scoring 157 without dropping any wickets. The openers duo Kyle Coetzer and George Munsey completed the winning target in 22.1 overs. Kyle, who opened the innings fell behind by just 4 runs to get his half-century. Taking on 72 deliveries, Kyle collected 46 runs with 7 fours.
On the other side, Player of the match George Munsey, contributed 103 runs off 61 deliveries with 12 fours and 7 sixes to score his first ODI century and confirmed Scotland’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 title with three games in hand.
Earlier, Namibia, who were invited to bat first, were bowled out for 153 runs in 39.2 overs.
Michael Leask was the pick of Scotland bowlers claiming 4-25 from 8.2 overs with 1 maiden. Moreover, Safyaan Sharif and Mark Watt took 3 wickets each.
Opener Lo-handre Louwrens (54) top-scored for Namibia hitting 5 fours off 88 balls. Zane Green (25), Pikky Ya France (11), and Bernard Scholtz (30) were the other batters to contribute in double figures.
With Skipper Gerhard Erasmus and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton leaving the crease following a golden duck, Karl Birkenstock and Michael van Lingen contributed 4 runs each. Furtner, Ruben Trumpelmann added 6 runs to the tally while Tangeni Lungameni and Ben Shikongo scored 1 run each.
Before Namibia meets hosts Nepal on February 18, Scotland will take on the home side on February 17.
