Kathmandu – Four Archery players have been selected to represent Nepal in the upcoming 19th Asian Games (ASIAD) scheduled to take place in Hangzhou, China later this year.
The team comprises two each male and female archers. Among them, Manju Bajgain and Emayung Rai, both from the Nepali Army, have been chosen to compete in the recurve and compound categories respectively in the women’s division. Manju secured her place with an impressive score of 1070 marks, while Emayung earned her spot with a commendable 1303 mark.
In the men’s division, Tilak Pun Magar from the Nepal Police will compete in the recurve category, while Yogendra Sherchan from Gandaki Province has been selected to represent Nepal in the compound category. Tilak displayed excellent form and scored 1267 marks, while Yogendra showcased his skills with a score of 1289 marks during the qualifying competition.
The Nepal Archery Association has stated that these selected players will participate in six out of the ten events scheduled for ASIAD. A total of 14 players competed for the opportunity to represent Nepal in the 11th National Archery Tournament, from which the final selection for ASIAD was made. Nepal’s contingent will participate in 29 sporting events during the Asian Games, which will be held from September 23 to October 8.
