Kathmandu – Dikshya Tamang of Nepal APF Club and Santu Shrestha of Nepal Police have clinched the title of Khum Bahadur Khadka Cup National-level Table Tennis Championship in women’s and men’s categories respectively.
Dikshya Tamang on Sunday defeated Rabina Maharjan of Tribhuvan Army Club 4-2 in the women’s singles final held in Tulsipur, Dang. Army’s Diya Deula and Manju Suwal of Police finished joint third.
In the men’s singles category, Santu Shrestha saw off his club mate Binesh Khania 4-2 to win the title. Army’s Deep Saun and Sanyog Kapali of APF finished third in the event.
The winners of men’s and women’s singles categories each bagged a purse of Rs 40,000 while the runners-up and third position holders walked home with Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
Army Club finished first in the women’s team event during the championship held from December 31 to January 2. Army defeated APF 3-2 in the final. In the men’s team event, Police defeated Army in the final to lift the title.
The top three teams in the team event bagged a purse of Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 5,000 each. Nepali Congress leader Mohan Bahadur Basnet handed over the prizes to the winners.
