Construction of the world’s highest altitude Golf course in Mustang accomplished

Nepal is known as the country with the highest peak. Now, Nepal will also be known as the country having a Golf course at the highest altitude Golf. 

Gandaki Province Member of Parliament (MP) Indra Dhara Bista announced that the construction of the Mustang Golf Course has been completed in Lomanthang of Mustang district amidst a press conference on Monday. Mustang Golf Course is said to be located at an altitude of 4,645 meters (15239.5 feet) above sea level. The Yak Golf Course in Sikkim, India was earlier known as the golf course at high altitude. Yak Golf Course is at an altitude of 3,970 meters above sea level.

The golf course containing 9 holes was built with a proactive initiation of Hon. Indra Dhara Bista. The golf course was built with the amount of Samsad Bikash Kosh in cooperation with Lomanthang Rural Municipality.

In the newly built golf course at Mustang, The Top of the World Golf Challenge will be held next month as the first competition. 28 golfers including 4 women from Kathmandu and Pokhara will be participating in the tournament scheduled to take place on August 27. It is believed that players from all around the world will participate in the tournament in the upcoming days.

The tournament will be played on a Stableford format with a 3/4 handicap over nine holes considering the altitude. Winner, Runner Up, Ladies Winner, best Gross, closet to the pin, longest drive, and most birdies will be awarded.

Nepal Golf Association President Tashi Ghale, Professional Golfer Association General Secretary Deepak Acharya, Gandaki Province MP Indra Dhara Bista, and Nepal Mountain Sports Federation President Gobinda Bhattrai were present at the program.
