Chelsea draw Southampton

Chelsea were disappointed to have drawn against struggling Southampton on Saturday. Liverpool loanee Minamino scored for Southampton first and then Mason Mount levelled for Chelsea.

Chelsea started very brightly and should have gone ahead in the first 10 minutes. But a shot from Marcus Alonso was wide. Chelsea dominated the possession but failed to create any chances. Soon Chelsea were punished, Redmond passed the ball to Minamino who skipped passed Mendy to give Southampton the lead. Zouma tried to bring Chelsea level but his header was saved by McCarthy.

Chelsea then came back in the second half as they were awarded a penalty. Mason Mount was brought down by Ings and himself converted from the spot kick. Vestegaard tried to give Southampton the lead in 70th minute was his header could only find the goal post. Hudson-Odoi was brought in at the half time for Abraham but was substituted for Ziyech soon and he didn’t seem happy about it.

Result sees Chelsea sit in 5th with 43 points whereas Southampton sit 13th with 30 points.
