The two teams played a 3-3 draw in the first match of the sixth round. Ashish Lama, Captain Navin Lama and Dipesh Dhimal were on target for APF. Kuriyama had been residing in Nepal for some time. Coincidentally, APF who had lost their first four league matches, won the fifth match 3-1 in Kuriyama’s debut. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba handed over cash prize of Rs 500,000 to each of the 23 members of the team amid a function organized at the prime minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday. Three coaches of the team were given Rs 300,000 each. Nepal had lost to India 3-0 in the final of the SAFF Championship held in the Maldives in October. Kuriyama has become the first foreign player to play for a departmental team of Nepal. This is the first time that APF have signed a foreign footballer after acquiring AFC Club license.
