Kathmandu- Tribhuvan Army Club registered their second win in the ongoing Qatar Airways Martyrs Memorial A Division League riding on goals from forward George Prince Karki and midfielder Jagjeet Shrestha.
Army defeated Chysal Youth Club 2-0 on Friday to climb to the second position in the league table. Karki scored the first goal of the match held at the Dasharath Stadium in the 19 minute to give army the lead. He netted the ball in a header from a cross received from Tanka Basnet.
Chyasal’s goalkeeper Arpan Karki denied Army another goal in the 35th minute as he saved a strike from Sesehang Angdembe from outside the penalty box. However, Jagjeet Shrestha scored a minute later to double Army’s lead. An unmarked Shrestha scored in a pass from Gautam Shrestha, who collected the ball released by Chyasal goalkeeper Karki carelessly.
This is the first goal of Shrestha in his fourth match of the ongoing league. Shrestha, who has been living in Australia, returned home to play the league.
With this victory, Army are hot on the heels of top-placed Manang Marshyangdi Club. Army have collected eight points from four matches. Top-placed MMC have ten points from four matches. On the other hand, Chyasal are languishing in the ninth position with four points after their second defeat in the league.
