Army beat Police in style to set final date with APF

Kathmandu – Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) reached the finals of the Prime Minister’s Cup One Day National Cricket Tournament with a thrilling two-wicket victory over Nepal Police Club (NPC). TAC has made it to the finals of the tournament for the fifth time in a row by chasing a record total over the NPC.

Beginning with the bat at TU Cricket Ground, NPC collected the gigantic 304 runs with a century from skipper Dipendra Singh Airee and a half-century from Aarif Sheikh.

Kushal Bhurtel (31), Sunil Dhamala (13), and Amit Shrestha initially contributed 10 runs to the tally. Dipendra Singh Airee then stepped in to smash the highest of 140 runs off 125 deliveries with 11 fours and 5 sixes to be named the first player to score two centuries in the single PM Cup tournament.

With 8 fours and 2 sixes, Aarif Sheikh played an innings of 91 runs not out off 109 deliveries. Karan KC remained unbeaten for 8 runs off 3 balls. TAC bowler Bikram Sob took 3 wickets whereas Sushan Bhari took apiece.

In reply, TAC scored 309-8 in 49.5 overs to chase the biggest winning target of the PM Cup. Middle-order batsman Rajesh Pulami, who lasted at the crease till the end finished the match in style with a sixer in the second last ball of the inning delivered by Dipendra Singh Airee. Opening with the bat, Arjun Saud, and Hari Chauhan collected 11 and 75 runs respectively.

Rohit Paudel then stepped up to play the big inning of 89 runs off 87 deliveries with 9 fours. Bhim Sharki (10), Binod Bhandari (32), Kushal Malla (0), and Sushan Bhari went back to the dugout for 1 run. Bikram Sob scored 30 runs off 18 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Player of the Match Rajesh Pulami won TAC the match bagging 43 runs off 37 balls with 3 fours, and 2 sixes. Shahab Alam remained unbeaten for 1 run. 6 wickets from NPC bowler Karan KC went useless as it could not win NPC the match. Rashid Khan and Lalit Rajbanshi claimed one wicket each in their name.

Final’s Fixture

Earlier on Thursday, APF sidelined Madesh Province to march on to the finals of the Prime Minister Cup One Day Tournament. APF will now take on TAC in the finals of the 6th edition of the PM Cup on Saturday. APF lost to TAC in the opening match of the tournament and will be in a verse of taking revenge.
