Kathmandu – The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) bade farewell to the National Women’s Football Team traveling to India to participate in the friendly matches.
India will host Nepal in two friendlies on February 15th and 18th in Chennai. Ananta Thapa will lead the Nepalese squad and Paras Chaudhary will assist Thapa. Former Skipper Renuka Nagarkoti, who had been out of the national team following an injury, made the cut to the squad. Similarly, Preeti Rai, Dipa Shahi, and Amisha Karki joined the senior national side after returning home from Bangladesh, playing SAFF U20 Women’s Championship.
Nepal last met India in mid-September last year where Nepal sidelined India from the semifinals of the SAFF Championship held at Kathmandu. Rashmi Kumari Ghising scored the lone goal back then, which earned Nepal its first victory over India.
Nepal National Council (NSC) Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising, ANFA Sr. Vice President Bir Bahadur Khadka, General Secretary Kiran Rai, EX CO Members Purushottam Thapa, Rupesh Adhikari, Pema Dolma Lama, and Sarila Shrestha Maleku bade farewell to the traveling team at ANFA Premises. The team will fly toward India on Monday.
