Kathmandu – Church Boys United Football Club missed the opportunity to secure the top spot in the Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League 2023 points table after playing a 1-1 draw against Friends Club at Dasarath Stadium on Thursday.
The game saw Church Boys take the lead in the 21st minute when Joseph scored with a long pass from Sushil Shah, capitalizing on Friends Club’s defensive lapse.
However, Friends Club defender Amit Tamang canceled out Church Boy’s lead by converting a spot kick in the 72nd minute, resulting in both teams sharing the spoils. Friends were awarded a penalty after Church Boys’ defender Manoj Rai fouled Rafiq inside the box.
Church Boys currently stand fourth in the table, accumulating 14 points from eight matches, while Friends Club, who are struggling in the relegation zone, stand 13th with five points from eight matches.
At ANFA Complex, Three Star Club edged past Nepal Police Club 1-0. Ajayi Martis Kayode’s goal in the second half was enough for the starts to secure the victory.
With the victory, Three Star moved to fifth in the league table with 14 points from 8 matches whereas Nepal Police Club struggles in the relegation zone remaining at bottom of the table with 4 points.
