A Division League to kick off today

Kathmandu – The 45th edition of the Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League is scheduled to start today, with newcomers FC Khumaltar facing Friends Club at Dasrath Stadium at 5:30 PM.

Both teams are eager to begin with a victory, as FC Khumaltar hopes to make a dream debut by winning their first top-tier match, while Friends Club seeks to start the league on a high note.

During a pre-match conference held at ANFA Premises on the eve of the league, FC Khumaltar’s CEO, Bidur Shrestha, expressed confidence in his team. “We have recruited star players and trained for a couple of months. Also, we spent a significant amount of money. We will move ahead eying on the title,” stated Shrestha.

Meanwhile, Friends Club’s newly appointed head coach, Urjan Shrestha, said that his team is well-prepared.”We are well prepared with experienced players in the squad. Our primary aim is to avoid making any mistakes and we will go according to our plan,” said Shrestha

FC Khumaltar earned a place in the premier division league by finishing second in the Martyr’s Memorial ‘B’ Division League, while Friends Club narrowly avoided relegation by finishing 12th in the previous edition of the A Division League.

The Dashrath Stadium, ANFA Complex, and Chyasal Stadium will host this year’s league, which will be held in a double round-robin format for the first time in a decade. The last time domestic football was played in a double round-robin format was in the 2014 National League, where Three Star Club emerged as champions.
