The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has selected 45 players from the open trial of 1700 participants. The selected players will be called up for the close camp.
60 players were selected in the initial phase after which 15 players were kept out to form a preliminary squad of 45 members.
As ANFA Academy is not active lately, it has been conducting open trials to form age group teams. The responsibility of the head coach of the team is given to Urjan Shrestha who is also a coach of A Division side Three Star Club.
Nepal is drawn in Group ‘B’ alongside India and Bhutan. Similarly, hosts Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Bangladesh are placed in group ‘A’. The championship will take place in Sri Lanka from the 5th to the 14th of September.
