14-year-old Batas clinched two medals in IFMA World Youth Games

14-year-old Martial Artist Prapti Batas clinched a silver and a bronze medal in the IFMA World Youth Games 2022 held in Malaysia from August 9-20, 2022.  

Prapti, who has been training and fighting in Gymkhana Muay Thai won a Silver Medal at the IFMA Grand Slam (12-15 years) under 51kgs and a Bronze Medal in the (14-15years) 51 kgs category. Prapti, a lone participant from Nepal fought the highest number of fights in the week-long event. She was coached by Rahul Moktan.

This was Nepal’s first participation in the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA). Nepal fought against Malaysia, Turkey, Russian, and China.

The U-16 National Champion mentioned that she got her interest in the sports due to her father. “My father has always backed me up. He has always been encouraging me and my sibling to learn Martial Arts. Due to his motivation, I am into this sport.” said Prapti. She added that she is not pleased with silver. “I am not satisfied with just silver. I will work hard to bring the gold medal back home next year.”

She is likely to represent Nepal in the upcoming IFMA Antalya Cup happening from November 23-27 in Turkey.
