Women’s Volleyball to Make ASIAD Debut, Drawn Alongside Heavyweight Opponents

Kathmandu – Nepal Women’s Volleyball Team is set to make its maiden appearance at the Asian Games, facing strong opponents.

The draw, held on Thursday, placed Nepal in Group C, alongside heavy-weight South Korea and Vietnam. Both South Korea and Vietnam hold impressive rankings in the Asian standings, with Korea ranked fourth and Vietnam ranked sixth.

The group breakdown for the 19th ASIAD is as follows:

Group AChina, India, North Korea
Group BThailand, Chinese Taipei, Mongolia
Group CSouth Korea, Vietnam, Nepal
Group DJapan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Hong Kong China

Nepal’s team is preparing for the tournament under the guidance of Belgian coach Jan de Brandt. The recently concluded CAVA Women’s Challenge Cup, hosted by Nepal last month, added valuable support to the team’s preparations. Nepal secured the third position in the CAVA Challenge Cup, with India claiming the title and Kazakhstan finishing as the runner-up.
