Leaders Paris Saint-Germain missed a half-time advantage of two goals as they lost 3-2 in Ligue 1 at Monaco on Friday ahead of a vital Champions League match against RB Leipzig.
Kylian Mbappe’s double was canceled out by two goals from Kevin Volland and Fabregas put the final nail to the coffin when he scored from the penalty spot six minutes from time.
Mbappe, back with PSG after picking up a thigh injury against Nantes, scored first with a strike into the top corner in the 25th minute. After Rafinha was taken down by Youssouf Fofana, he doubled the tally 12 minutes later from the penalty area. Mbappe was denied the first half hattrick by VAR in the 45th minute as Moise Kean was offside during the play.
Kovas subbed off Geubbels and Ballo-Toure for Fabregas and Henrique respectively at the halfway mark. 7 minutes later, Volland scored from a close range to keep Monaco in the game. Tuchel threw in Neymar for Di Maria as they tried to keep the 2 goal advantage. But substitute Fabregas’ cross found Volland who then scored again from a close range to bring Monaco level and keep the game alive.
Tuchel then subbed 3 of his players at once to at least win a point at Monaco but Diallo gave away a penalty in the 83rd minute. The penalty was then converted coolly by Fabregas and the comeback was complete.
Monaco are now on 20 points, 4 behind leaders PSG while PSG have 24 from the same number of games.
