Kathmandu – Hosts USA defeated Nepal by 39 runs in their ICC World Cup League-2 triangular series match in Texas on Wednesday.

The USA had posted a challenging target of 246 runs for Nepal in the match played at Moosa Cricket Stadium in Houston, Texas. IN response, Nepal could manage 206 runs losing all wickets in 47.4 overs.
Aarif Sheikh scored the highest 63 runs including three boundaries off 73 balls for Nepal while Sompal Kami scored 47 runs, including a four off 72 balls.
Sheikh and Kami had made a 106-run partnership for the sixth wicket to help Nepal post a respectable score. Opener Kushal Bhurtel was out for 10 runs while Aasif Sheikh (18 runs), Dev Khanal (34 runs) and Rohit Kumar Poudel (16 runs) couldn’t shine with the bat.
USA’s Saurav Netravalkar and Ali Khan took three wickets each while Nothus Kaijing and Nisarga Patel took a wicket each during the match.

Earlier, the USA were invited to bat first after losing the toss and scored 245-7 in the 50-over match.
Karan KC took three wickets for Nepal while Skipper Sandeep Lamichhane managed two and Sompal Kami and Dipendra Singh Airee grabbed one each.
Earlier, Nepal lost the first match of the triangular series against Oman by 13 runs followed by a draw against the hosts USA in the second match. Nepal then defeated Oman by 7 wickets in the third match of the series to climb to the fifth position in the league.
Nepal has so far scored 15 points from 16 matches under ICC World Cup League-2.
