Kathmandu – The 13th South Asian Games (SAG) four gold medalists swimmer Gaurika Singh and Nasir Husain set new national records on Monday.
At the 20th edition of the World Aquatic Championship 2023, held in Fukuoka, Japan, Nasir Husain achieved yet another remarkable feat, marking a new national record. He completed the 200 meters freestyle event with an impressive time of 1 minute 57.26 seconds.
This accomplishment surpasses his previous national record of 1 minute 58.23 seconds, set during the 11th NSA Cup Championship. Additionally, on Sunday, Nasir also achieved a new national record of 4 minutes 8.23 seconds in the 400 meters freestyle.
Similarly, Gaurika Singh, the four gold medalists of the 13th SAG, also etched her name in history by setting a new national record for women. Gaurika’s outstanding performance in the 100 meters backstroke event resulted in her completing the distance in an impressive time of 1 minute 6.80 seconds.
Notably, Gaurika had previously set a record of 1 minute 7.31 seconds during the 12th SAG held in Guwahati, India.
