Kathmandu – Surya Nepal Golf Tour is all set to kick off in Kathmandu from Monday, December 6. The Surya Nepal Kathmandu Open Golf Tournament is the first of several tournaments to be held under the Surya Nepal Golf Tour.
Nepal Golf Association (NGA) unveiled the schedule of the tournament on Sunday amid a press conference in the capital. According to the association, the Surya Nepal Kathmandu Open Golf Tournament will be held at the Royal Nepal Golf Club in Kathmandu. The four-day tour will conclude on Thursday.
A total of 34 professional golfers will participate in the event, informed the organisers. Pro golfers Bhuvan Nagarkoti, Shukra Bahadur Rai, Rame Magar and Sanjay Lama are among the participants. Golfer Subas Tamang will be competing in the amateur section.
The winner of the tournament will bag a purse of Rs 110,000 while the runner-up will walk away with Rs 74,000 and the third position holder will receive Rs 60,000. Each of the top 21 players will get Rs 11,000.
Following this event, the Surya Nepal Easter Open will be held in Dharan Golf Club from December 27 to 30. Likewise, Surya Nepal NPGA Match Play will be held at Royal Nepal Golf Club from February 1 to 3.
The Surya Nepal Western Open will be held at the Himalayan Golf Club, Pokhara from February 22 to 25 followed by Surya Nepal Challenge at Royal Nepal Golf Club from March 14 to 17, and Surya Nepal NPAGA Tour Championship from April 18 to 21 at Gokarna Forest Golf Resort. The season-ending Surya Nepal Premier Golf Championship will also be held at the same venue from May 9 to 13.
NGA General Secretary Deepak Acharya informed that the Surya Nepal Premier Championship will be of international standard where foreign golfers will also feature in the event.
