Skipper Rubina shines in Nepal’s win

Skipper Rubina Chhetri took 4 wickets in a row as CAN Mixed-XI consisting of Nepali Women’s Cricket team players beat Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) by 19 runs at Pokhara Rangasala.

CAN Mixed-XI, who won the toss and elected to bat first scored 99 runs losing 9 wickets in the prescribed 20 overs. Neri Thapa added the highest of 18 runs off 31 deliveries with 2 fours for Nepal.

Suman Khatiwada collected 16 runs off 17 deliveries with 4 fours whereas Kabita Kunwar added 17 runs off 11 balls with 2 fours. Opener Kajol Shrestha got out for 2 runs.

While Sita Rana Magar and Samjhana Khadka collected 10 and 17 runs, Skipper Rubina went back to the pavilion with a single run. Rachael Potter of MCC took 3 wickets spending 14 runs with 1 maiden in 4 overs. Ria Raval and Amanda Potgieter took a couple of wickets each.

MCC then failed to chase a winning target of 100 runs and got all out for 80 runs in 19.5 overs. Elyssa Hubbard remained unbeaten on 20 runs off 28 balls with 2 fours.

Abbie Whybrow collected 19 runs off 34 balls with 2 fours. Jenny Kitzinger scored 14 runs and Amanda scored 12 runs. Rubina took four consecutive wickets in the second, third, fourth, and fifth balls of the 20th over. She bowled Amanda, Ria Raval, Sarah Cray, and Isabelle Gurney.

Rubina took 5 wickets giving away 10 runs in 2.5 overs. Kabita Kunwar took 2 wickets with 1 maiden in 4 overs for 9 runs. Neri Thapa took 2 wickets for 9 runs in 4 overs. Sita Rana Magar took one wicket.
