Six players receive financial assistance for treatment

Kathmandu – The National Players Welfare Fund under the National Sports Council (NSC) on Tuesday provided financial assistance to six players of five different sports disciplines for treatment.

The six players who are current undergoing treatment received financial support of Rs 556,843 for their treatment. Athlete Jit Bahadur KC, who secured the first international medal for Nepal, and karateka Bishnu Nepali received Rs 125,000 each. KC sustained a hand injury while Nepali is suffering from paralysis.

Meanwhile, volleyball player Riya Kunwar received Rs 36,929, ITF taekwondo player Deepak Gautam was provided financial assistance of Rs 47,914, karateka Kopila Bista received Rs 75,000 and badminton player Seema Rajbanshi was given Rs 80,000 for treatment.

Volleyball player Riya Kunwar, karateka Kopila Bista and shuttler Seema Rajbanshi are suffering from knee injury while taekwondo player Deepak Gautam is have shoulder-related problem.

NSC Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising, who is also the president of the fund, handed over a cheque to the players amid a function on Tuesday.

On the occasion, Ghising said a small help from the fund would be of a great help for the players and urged all stakeholders to help increase contribution to the fund.

“The players who contribute to the nation’s pride need help from other sectors as well,” said Ghising.
