Shrestha to lead Friends Club

Kathmandu – The Nepal U-17 National Team Head Coach Urjan Shrestha, has been signed by Friends Club to lead them in the Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League 2023 starting March 3. The club announced Shrestha’s appointment on Wednesday through their social media handles.

Shrestha, who holds an AFC ‘A’ license, previously led Three Star Club to a sixth-place in the top-flight league in the most recent season. He has also coached Brigade Boys Club in 2018’s top-tier league.

In addition to Shrestha, Friends Club has brought in Dona Thapa from Three Star Club and signed Bishal Sunar, Rajesh Pariyar, Rupesh KC, and Amit Tamang. The club also extended contracts with Aron Thapa, Asim Bhusal, Prem Bhandari, and Shyam Babu Kyapchhiki.

Friends Club will start their top-tier league campaign by facing debutants Khumaltar FC in an inaugural match.

Friends Club, who were close to being relegated in the previous edition, finished 12th under Migendra Mishra in the Martyrs Memorial ‘A’ Division League 2021/22.
