Kathmandu – Seven3sports has terminated the contract with the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) to organize the Nepal T20 League.
After facing continuous criticism and controversies, Seven3sports stepped up to terminate the contract itself. Jatin Ahluwalia, the founder of Seven3Sports, announced that he has terminated the contract with CAN. He further added that he canceled the contract because National Sports Council (NSC) didn’t permit yet to hold the Nepal T20 League.
Earlier, the Indian company, Seven3sports joined hands with CAN as a commercial and strategic partner to organize the Nepal T20 League for 8 years paying 330 million rupees for the scheduled time. But in the middle of the first edition, Jatin left Nepal and ran away to India.
He then never returned back to Nepal. Even so, various controversies arose in Nepal T20 League such as the owner of some franchise teams being unidentified, match and spot-fixing, and players not being remunerated on time.
However, Nepal Police’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) is investigating the Nepal T20 League’s dispute. It is also rumored that Seven3sports is the mastermind behind spot-fixing.
Nepali cricket team all-rounder Adil Alam and former cricketer Mehboob Alam have been accused of spot-fixing and are under the control of CIB. Furthermore, CIB is investigating both CAN and Seven3Sports.
