Kathmandu – Satdobato Youth Club (SYC) has advanced to the semi-finals of the KP Oli Cup defeating Nepal Police Club (NPC) 2-1 in an inaugural match at the ANFA Complex in Kathmandu.
Dipak Raj Thakuri scored a brace for SYC, while NPC’s Prabin Thapa scored a consolation. Dipak connected with Suraj Gurung’s corner and headed the ball home just before going into the break.
Prabin Thapa scored an equalizer four minutes after the interval. SYC’s custodian Abishek Baral failed to clear Rabi Paswan’s cross from the left side, which Prabin took advantage of and converted in the rebound to bring his team back into the game.
Player of the match Dipak then scored the match-winner in the 70th minute. Dipak perfectly received Skipper Sudip Gurung’s long cross from their own half beating the offside trap and directed the ball into the back of the net to seal the deal.
The second and third quarterfinal matches of the tournament will take place tomorrow at the ANFA Complex, with Tribhuvan Army Club facing the New Road team at 11 PM, and Machhindra FC playing against Church Boys United Football Club at 3 PM.
The National Youth Federation is organizing KP Oli Cup National Football Tournament from February 23 to 28 where the champions will purse NRs. 1 Million and the runners-up will receive NRs. 5 Lakhs. Likewise, the Most Valuable Player of the tournament will be rewarded with NRs. 1 Lakh. Moreover, the best goalkeeper, the best goal scorer, and the emerging player will earn NRs. 50 thousand each.
Furthermore, the organizers will award NRs. 25,000 to the winning team of each match and 15,000 rupees to the player of the match.
