Sandeep to miss UAE Tour

By a Staff Reporter

Kathmandu – The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) announced the Nepal National Cricket Team for the UAE tour excluding Sandeep Lamichhane and Surya Tamang.

Sandeep, who had the highest wicket count of 13 in the recently concluded tri-series under ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2, has been dropped from the travelling squad due to a prohibition implemented by the Patan High Court. He is not permitted to travel until the case’s final verdict. He is alleged of coercion of a minor, for which he was in pre-trial detention and was released on bail in January.

On the other hand, Aarif Sheikh, Mausam Dhakal (Shyam), and Pratish GC have been included in the team, while Surya Tamang has been left out. Surya was a member of Nepal’s squad for their home series against Scotland and Namibia but did not feature in any of the outings.

Nepal will now travel to UAE to play against Papua New Guinea on February 27 and March 3, and UAE on March 2 and 6 before hosting Papua New Guinea on March 9 and 13 and UAE on March 12 and 16 at the TU Cricket Ground.

Final Squad:
Rohit Paudel (Captain), Kushal Bhurtel, Aaif Sheikh (Wicketkeeper), Gyanendra Malla, Kushal Malla, Dipendra Singh Airee, Sundeep Jora, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Lalit Rajbanshi, Mausam Dhakal, Gulsan Jha, Bhim Sharki, Aarif Sheikh, Pratish GC
