By a Staff Reporter

Kathmandu – Nepali national cricket team’s captain Sandeep Lamichhane and opener Kushal Bhurtel have made significant improvement in their ICC T20I world rankings.

Kushal has climbed to 31st position in the batting category from 39th position. England’s Jonny Bairstow is ranked 37th and Pakistan’s Farakh Jaman is ranked 39th and New Zealand’s Kane Williamson is 44th, all of them behind Bhurtel. India’s wicketkeeper Rishav Pant is ranked 60, as per the new rankings released by ICC.

Dipendra Singh Airee is ranked 50th in the new rankings.

In the bowling section, Skipper Lamichhane has leapfrogged from the 43rd position to the 36th spot. Nepal’s fast bowler Avinash Bohra is ranked 82nd. He was ranked 86th before.

The rankings of Nepali players have improved thanks to their good performance in the ICC T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers held in Oman two weeks ago. Nepal, however, missed a chance to play in the World Cup by a whisker after losing the semifinal against the UAE by 68 runs.

Nepal are ranked 13th in the T20I rankings and 16th in the ODI rankings.
