Kathmandu (Hamro Khelkud) – National champion Samrakshak Bhusan Bajracharya and Prerana Koirala won their respective U-16 Singles title in the 1st ANLTA-JTI National Junior Tennis Tournament in Satdobato on Sunday.
In the boys final between Samrakshak and Pranav Khanal, Pranav got injured when the match was tied on a set each. Pranav won the first set 6-1 but he lost the second set 6-3 before withdrawing the match through retired hurt. Earlier, Samrakshak had also bagged the U-18 Singles title. Likewise, Prerana won Saloni Tamang 6-1, 6-3 to claim her second gold in the tournament. Prerana had defeated Saloni in the U-14 Girls Single final as well.
The tournament, which was organised by All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association, included male and female singles for U-8, U-9, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-18 age categories. Likewise, Boris Adhikari (U-8, Boys), Samriddhi Maharjan (U-8, Girls), Aayushmanhajur Ghale (U-9, Boys), Prashamsa Moktan (U-9, Girls), Aarabh Samrat Hada (U-10, Boys), Prashamsa Moktan (U-10, Girls), Aryan Giri (U-12, Boys), Rayana Shah (U-12, Girls), Samyak Bhusan Bajracharya (U-14, Boys) and national champion Mayanka Rana (U-18, Girls) also won gold in their categories.
President of Lawn Tennis Association Hem Bahadur Lama, Secretary of Organizing committee Malika Rana Basnet, and Members Ajay Bista and Gyanendra Khanal awarded the winners of the tournament. The eight-day long tournament saw a participation of 72 players.
