Kathmandu – Sabitra ‘Samba’ Bhandari’s four goals have guided her new side, Hapoel Ra’anana, to make a winning start in the Ligat Nashim, the Israeli top-tier women’s football league.

Ra’anana defeated Ramat Hasharon 4-0 in the league opener to make a winning start in the new league season. All four goals in Ra’anana’s win came from Samba.

Although this was her first league appearance in Israel, she has already featured for her new side in the Athena Cup where her side bowed out in the semifinals with a loss against defending champions Kiryat Gil.

Samba also became the first Nepali to feature in a European league after her appearance today. She signed with Ra’anana after having a record-breaking season in the Indian Women’s League last season where she finished as the record goalscorer in a single season while also breaking the record for the topscorer in the Indian Women’s League history.
