Real Madrid now have one foot on the semi finals of the Champions League this season as they beat Liverpool 3-1 at Madrid. Thanks to goals from Assensio and Vinicius Jr., Real Madrid now have a comfortable lead for the second leg.
Liverpool looked nothing like how they played against Arsenal and were down just before 30 minutes. Vinicius Jr. broke the defense line after he received a wonderful long ball from Kroos to put it past Allison. Madrid controlled the whole half and doubled their lead via Assensio. Assensio capitalized a mistake by Trent Arnold who had mistakenly played ball back to Assensio who beat Allison.
Liverpool started second half well and Salah pulled one back. A shot from Diogo Jota was blocked and had fallen just in front of salah who then slotted it home. In the 65th minute, Vinicius regained Real’s two-goal lead. A driven finish from Vinicius of a Luka Modric rolling cross went between the legs of a defender and off Alisson’s hands before squirting in.
Liverpool now have a mountain to climb in the second leg which will be played on April 14.
