Kathmandu – The All Nepal Football Association on Monday announced the final squad to compete in SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship at Dhaka.
The Nepal Women’s senior team Midfielder Preeti Rai will lead the team in a championship to be held from February 3 to 9, 2023.
The head coach Yam Gurung axed off 8 players from the 31-membered preliminary squad. Puja Thapa, Sujata Tamang, Sobha Chhetri, Ganga Rokaya, Sushma GT, Jenifer Rana, Hima Rawat, and Sandipa Bholan failed to make it to the final 23.
Nepal, India, Bhutan, and Bangladesh are the participating nations. The championship will be played in a single round-robin format where the top two teams in the points table will vie in the final.
India will face Bhutan in the opening match on February 3. Similarly, Nepal will begin its campaign on the same day taking on hosts Bangladesh in the day’s second match.
