Police off to winning start in women’s basketball

Kathmandu – Nepal Police Club made a winning start to the Lama Tendi Sherpa Memorial Open Basketball Championship in the women’s section on Tuesday.

Police hammered Kirtipur Municipality 78-23. Samikshya Neupane of Police contributed 11 points to the club. Likewise, Jharana Bajracharya of Kirtipur socred 13 points. Kirtipur were able to score their first point when Police had already scored 32. Police won all four quarters with the scoreline 21-0, 24-6, 18-10, 15-7.

In the men’s section, Times Basketball and Golden Gate registered wins. Times saw off Xavier International 117-64 in the match held at the covered hall of National Sports Council in Tripureshwar.

Bijaya Burja scored 24 points for Times while Rahul Nayak contributed 14 points for Xavier.

In another competitive match, Golden Gate narrowly edged past NCCS with a score of 77-74.

Abhishek Singh of Golden Gate topscored 32 points for his team while Saugat Singh scored 18 points for NCCS.
