Surkhet (HamroKhelkud) – Nepal Police Club, Karnali Province, Gandaki Province and Koshi Province have registered wins in the 34th National Men’s Volleyball tournament on the second day.

In the first match of the day in Birendranagar, Police defeated Lumbini Province in straight sets with scorelines of 25-14, 25-17 and 25-21. Police dominated the first set after the set stood at 6-5 at one stage. Lumbini succumbed in the second set despite having an 8-3 lead. The third set was the most competitive among the three but Police wrapped up the match in the end.
Karnali came out victorious against Madhesh Province in the second encounter of the day. Karnali also registered a straight-sets victory- 25-20, 25-21 and 25-17.
Karnali had suffered a 3-0 loss against Army on the first day while Madhesh defeated Sudurpaschim 3-2 the day before.
Gandaki defeated Sudurpaschim Province 3-1 in the penultimate match of the day. Gandaki, who won the first two sets 25-20 and 25-18 lost the third 22-25. But in a competitive fourth set, Gandaki oozed out victorious 25-22.
In the final match of the day, Koshi defeated Bagmati Province in straight sets. Koshi, who suffered a 3-0 loss against APF on the opening day, registered a 25-16, 25-19 and 25-22 victory on the second day.
Police, APF, Bagmati and Koshi make up Group A. Army, Gandaki, Karnali, Sudurpaschim and Madhesh find themselves in Group B. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals.
Koshi, APF, Police and Lumbini have three points each in Group A at the end of the second day. Bagmati have no points so far. In Group B, Gandaki, Army and Karnali have three points each. Madhesh have two points so far while Surdurpaschim stay on one point so far.
The tournament organized by the Nepal Volleyball Association will run till January 10.
