Kathmandu – Nepal Police Club secured a 2-1 victory over the table-topping Jawalakhel Youth Club in the ongoing Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League on Monday at ANFA Complex, enabling them to escape the relegation zone.

The win saw Police move up to 10th position in the table with 15 points, lifting them from the bottom of the table.
Police’s foreign players, Moses Twum and Ahmad Hijazi, were instrumental in the victory, with both finding the back of the net. Moses headed home in the 35th minute following a freekick from Ajit Bhandari, taking Police into the lead before the break.
Ahmad then doubled Police’s advantage in the 88th minute, chipping the ball past Jawalakhel’s goalkeeper, Anish Deula, after receiving a through pass from Muhammed Ashiq. Ahmad, who played his second game for Police, was awarded his consecutive second man of the match award.
Bipin Kandel scored a consolation goal for Jawalakhel in the last minute of the match, but it was not enough to change the result. This is Police’s third consecutive win, and they have been performing exceptionally well since the arrival of their foreign players.
Despite the loss, Jawalakhel remained at the top of the table with 24 points from 14 matches, two points ahead of Three Star Club, who have played the same number of matches.
