Police, APF in semis with one match to spare

Kathmandu – Departmental teams Nepal APF Sports Club and Nepal Police Club have entered the semifinals of Bagmati Province New Diamond Cup Open Women’s National Volleyball Championship on Wednesday after registering second straight victory in their respective matches.

During the matches held at Kirtipur-based Multipurpose Covered Hall on Wednesday, APF defeated the hosts New Diamond while Police saw off Paropakar Adarsha Secondary School in straight sets. Both the winners made it to the semifinal with one match to spare. Now, these two teams (APF and Police) will vie for the top position in the round-robin league.

APF defeated New Diamond 25-12, 25-20 and 25-14 while Police beat Paropakar 25-3, 25-6 and 25-11. Both APF and Police have equal 6 points from two matches. On the other hand, New Diamond and Paraopakar are yet to  score any point.

The round-robin matches on Thursday will decide the top four teams that will qualify for the semifinals. The top two teams will vie for the title on Saturday while the third-place play off is also fixed for the same day. Twenty four players undergoing training with the national team of Nepal are not involved in this tournament.
