Kathmandu – Non-Resident Nepali (NRNA) defeated Far Western in the opening match of the 34th National Men’s Cricket Tournament under the 9th National Games by 12 runs.

The match was reduced to 6 overs due to rainfall. NRNA who won the toss and batted first collected 74 runs in 6 overs losing 4 wickets. Sagar Pun, who marked his comeback in TU groud after 4 years remained unbeaten and bagged 46 runs off 19 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. Sagar played his last domestic cricket in 2018. He was named the player of the match as well.

Skipper Sunam Gautam was dismissed for 24 runs off 11 balls. Hemant Dhami and Sher Malla of Far Western took two wickets each.

On the other hand, Far Western earned 62 runs in 6 overs losing 6 wickets. Opener Khadak Bohora scored 12, Raju Rijal collected 11 and Basanta Khatri added 10 runs. The rest of the players failed to earn runs in double-digit.
Aashish Pokhrel and Deepak Khatri took 3 wickets each for NRNA.
