Nepal’s fantastic clean sweep over Kenya

With improvised batting, Nepal kept a clean sweep over Kenya in the three ODI practice matches at Gymkhana Club Ground in Nairobi. Visitors Nepal defeated the hosts with 6 wickets.

Nepal chased a winning target of 256 runs losing 4 wickets in 47.1 overs. Captain Rohit Paudel and Basir Ahmed remained unbeaten in Nepal’s victory. Rohit collected 46 runs off 46 balls whereas Basir bagged 52 runs off 49 balls with 7 fours.

Opener Asif Sheikh scored 56 runs off 43 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes to give Nepal a great start. Likewise, young wicketkeeper-batsman Arjun Saud came up with another half-century to add 58 runs to the total run tally. Gyanendra Malla was dismissed for 33 runs and Dev Khanal was sent off the crease for 1 run.

Kenya, who decided to bat first after winning the toss at Gymkhana Club Ground scored 255 runs off 9 wickets in the scheduled 50 overs.

Kenya’s number three batsman Collins Obuya earned the most run of 84 runs off 111 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes for the team. He failed to score a century after being bowled by spinner Sahab Alam. However, Kenya gave a challenging target to Nepal.

Lucas Oluoch remained unbeaten with 57 runs off 27 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes. Opener Nelson Odhiambo was dismissed for 4 runs.

Sompal Kami and Aadil Ansari took 2 wickets for Nepal whereas Sahab Alam and Basir Ahamed took a piece.

Nepal won the series of three one-day practice matches with one match in hand. Nepal won the first match by 7 wickets and the second match by 17 runs. Nepal previously won the five T20I series by 3(2).
