Nepal’s ASIAD Medalists Return Home

Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – The Nepali athletes, coaches, and officials who took home medals at the 19th Asian Games (ASIAD) in China have returned home. At the ASIAD that concluded on Sunday in Hangzhou, Nepal took home one silver and one bronze medal.

The rally that was scheduled to start at Tribhuvan International Airport has been postponed. Due to the government’s decision to mark a day of national mourning today in honor of the 10 Nepali students who died in the attack by Hamas in Israel, the rally has been postponed.

The National Sports Council has announced that the medal winners would be honored at the National Sports Council’s premises in Tripureshwor.

Arika Gurung of Karate earned the silver medal this time, and the women’s kabaddi team, which took part for the first time, won the bronze. This time, Nepal earned the silver medal in the individual competition for the first time since 1998. Taekwondo athlete Sabita Rajbhandari earned the silver medal at the time.

In the 18th edition’s team paragliding event, Nepal took home the silver medal. Nepal has won multiple medals for the first time since 2006 in this competition. Nepal earned three bronze medals in taekwondo in 2002 and 2006.

Nepal has so far won 23 bronze medals in ASIAD, along with three silver medals. This time, Nepal participated in 29 games in the ASIAD with 253 players.
