Nepal Win The Canada Series With One Match To Spare

Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – Nepal have won the bilateral ODI series against Canada with one match to spare. Nepal won the second consecutive match of the series to take a 2-0 lead and confirm the series win.

Nepal won the second ODI by four wickets, chasing 286 runs in just the 46th over at the loss of just six wickets. This is Nepal’s joint-highest chase in ODI history equalling the chase against Namibia in 2023.

Nepal’s skipper, on his way to winning the second straight Player of the Match award scored 87 runs off 101 deliveries with eight fours and four sixes. Dev Khanal, returning to the Nepali lineup, made 76 off 81 with seven fours and two sixes. Earlier, opener and another returnee Anil Shah set the tone of the chase for Nepal, scoring the fastest ODI fifty for Nepal, in just 19 deliveries. He got out in the next delivery, having hit seven boundaries and three sixes.

Harsh Thaker and Ishwarjot Sohi picked up two wickets each for Canada while Dilpreet Bajwa and Saad Bin Zafar picked up one each.

Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Canada posted a total of 285 runs at the loss of nine wickets. Opener Aaroj Johnson scored 65 off 62 with ten fours and two sixes while his opening pair Navneet Dhaliwal made 46 and Shrestha Movva made 40.

Nepal’s skipper Rohit Paudel and Kushal Malla picked up two wickets each with Sompal Kami, Surya Tamang, Aakash Chand and Pawan Sarraf picking up one wicket each.

The final match of the series will be played on Monday, February 12.
