Nepal to Face Heavyweight Kuwait in Inaugural Match of SAFF Championship 2023

Kathmandu – Nepal National Football Team is set to kick off the SAFF Championship 2023 with a challenging match against heavyweight Kuwait in the tournament’s inaugural match.

The Official Draw of the Championship, held in the capital of the host country India, placed Nepal in Group ‘A’ alongside hosts India, Kuwait, and Pakistan.

Likewise, Group ‘B’ consists of Lebanon, Maldives, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. Lebanon and Kuwait have been invited as guests for this edition of the SAFF Championship.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from June 21 to July 4 at Bengaluru in India. Nepal’s opening match against Kuwait is set to kick off at 3:45 PM NST. Later on the same day, at 7:45 PM NST, India will face its renowned rival Pakistan in the second match.

The participating teams will compete in a round-robin format during a group stage, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The semi-final matches are slated to take place on July 1st, and the grand finale is scheduled for July 4th.

Nepal had previously finished second in the most recent SAFF Championship held in Maldives, where India emerged as the champions.
