Nepal Mauled By Pakistan In Second Women’s Asia Cup Outing

Kathmandu (HamroKhelkud) – Nepal, coming off a morale-boosting historic win against the UAE in the ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2024 opener, have been handed a crunching nine-wicket loss by Pakistan. Pakistan, after a straightforward loss against India, chased a target of 109 runs in just 11.5 overs with nine wickets to spare.

Gull Feroza struck her first-ever T20I half-century to top-score with 57 off 35 with 10 boundaries in the process. Her opening partner Muneeba Ali remained unbeaten on a 34-ball 48 with eight fours. Tuba Hassan remained not out on one run. 

Nepal’s Kabita Joshi took the only Pakistani wicket that fell. Earlier, in the match in Dambulla, it was Kabita herself, whose innings propelled Nepal to a competitive total of 108 runs at the loss of six wickets. 

Kabita amassed a 23-ball 31 with four fours and a maximum in the process. Opener and experienced campaigner Sita Rana Magar scored a 30-ball 26. Puja Mahato got to 25 runs from 32 deliveries. Kabita Kunwar made a run-a-ball 13.

The rest of the batters faltered. There were three runouts in Nepal’s innings while Sadia Iqbal took two scalps and Fatima Sana had a wicket to her Nepal.

Nepal and Pakistan, in Group A, sit on two points each from two matches apiece. India, have four points on board, from as many matches while UAE remain with no points at the bottom. The final group games to be played on Tuesday will see Pakistan face UAE and Nepal entertain India.
