Nepal hammered India

Nepal hammered India by 3-1 in an ongoing SAFF U17 Championship at Racecourse International Stadium in Sri Lanka.

Saroj Darlami, Unesh Budhathoki, and Subash Bam scored apiece as Nepal registers a comfortable victory over India.

Danny Meitei Laishram scored in the 24th minute to give India an early lead. Saroj Darlami smashed into the top corner from outside the box in the 45th minute to make the match even at the break.

Unesh Budhathoki found the back of the net in the 49th minute as Nepal goes on a 2-1 lead. Subash Bam netted in the 68th minute to give Nepal a comfortable victory of 3-1.

With the win, Nepal completed its group stage journey as the Group ‘B’ table toppers. Nepal defeated Bhutan by 2-1 in its first outing of the tourney. Following two consecutive defeats, Bhutan had already found its way off the championship. Runners-up India will face Bangladesh in the semis.  However, Nepal’s opponent will be decided by the clash between Sri Lanka and Maldives.  

Two teams from both groups will qualify for the semifinals. The final clash is scheduled for 14th September.
