Kathmandu – Hosts Nepal finished third place in the CAVA Women’s Challenge Cup by defeating Uzbekistan 3-1 at the NSC Covered Hall on Sunday.

Although Nepal faced an initial setback by losing the first set with a score of 20-25, they quickly regrouped and showcased their resilience by winning the next three sets consecutively to secure victory over Uzbekistan.
Nepal displayed their dominance in the second set with an impressive 25-16 victory over Uzbekistan. Their exceptional performance continued in the third set, where they comfortably triumphed with a score of 25-15. Nepal clinched the third set with a score of 25-13, ultimately securing their third place.
Throughout the tournament, Nepal displayed their prowess, emerging victorious against Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan in the group stage. However, Nepal lost to Champions India in the final match of the group stage and advanced to the semifinals as Group ‘A’ runners-up.
Despite putting up a valiant fight, Nepal succumbed to a 3-2 defeat against runners-up Kazakhstan in the semifinal, setting the stage for the intense third-place showdown.
The CAVA Women’s Challenge Cup, which concluded in Kathmandu featured eight teams. India emerged victorious in the tournament defeating Kazakhstan in a commanding straight-set victory.
