Nepal defeated Kenya

Following an impressive batting, visitors Nepal defeated hosts Kenya by 4 wickets in the third T20I match. With this win, Nepal has taken a 2-1 lead in the five T20I series.

Nepal attained a winning target of 157 runs in 19.3 overs losing 6 wickets. This is the highest total achieved by Nepal in T20Is. Earlier, the highest total achieved by Nepal in T20Is was 152 runs against Singapore in 2019 where former captain Paras Khakda scored the first T20I century for Nepal.

Gyanendra Malla earned the highest runs of 46 for Nepal. With 4 fours and a sixer, Malla was dismissed in the 41st ball. Likewise, debutant Arjun Saud and Vice-Captain Rohit Paudel added 35 and 29 runs respectively to secure Nepal’s victory.

Saud, who struck 2 fours and 3 sixers was bowled by Viraj Patel in the 10.1 over. Furthermore, Opener Pawan Sharaf added 20 runs to the tally whereas Dipendra Singh Airee, Aadil Ansari, and Aarif Sheikh collected 6, 16, and 4 runs subsequently.

On the other hand, two Kenyan players scored half-centuries at the Gymkhana Club Ground. Rakep Patel bagged the most runs of 73 for Kenya. Irfan Karim added 55 runs to the total and Collins Obuya contributed to the team with 14 runs off 18 balls. Kenya completed the innings losing only a couple of wickets.

Gyanendra Malla of Nepal was named the Player of the Match.

Nepal defeated the home side by 5 wickets in the first match and lost by 18 runs in the second. However, Nepal managed to win the third match this evening.

Nepal will play the fourth T20i Match on 29th August.
