Nepal Concludes CAVA Nations League Without a Win

Kathmandu – Nepal’s campaign in the CAVA Nations League Volleyball Championship concluded on a disappointing note as they failed to secure a single victory throughout the tournament.

In their final round-robin match against Uzbekistan on Sunday, Nepal faced a straight-set defeat. Nepal posted scores of 21, 22, and 23, in the three consecutive sets to Uzbekistan’s 25.

Nepal’s journey in the championship began with a 3-1 loss to Mongolia. After losing the first two sets by 19-25 and 20-25, Nepal made a comeback in the third set, clinching a narrow 27-25 victory. However, their efforts fell short in the fourth set as they lost 20-25, resulting in a disappointing start to the championship.

A similar pattern unfolded in Nepal’s second match against the host nation, Kyrgyzstan. The hosts got off to a winning start by edging out Nepal with a score of 24-26 in the first set. Nepal managed to level the match by securing a 25-21 win in the second set. However, Kyrgyzstan dominated the third and fourth sets, defeating Nepal 18-25 and 16-25, ultimately winning the match 3-1.

Nepal suffered a comprehensive loss to the formidable side, Iran, in straight sets with scores of 16-25, 22-25, and 22-25 in their third outing. Their struggles continued in their fourth match against Turkmenistan, where they lost 3-1. Despite winning the second set with a score of 25-23 after losing the first set 16-25, Nepal couldn’t maintain the momentum, dropping the third and fourth sets with scores of 24-26 and 20-25.

In their fifth match against Kyrgyzstan ‘B’, Nepal displayed a strong performance but, unfortunately, ended up losing 3-2. Starting the match with a 25-21 victory, Nepal lost the next two sets in closely contested battles, with scores of 27-29 and 22-25. They managed to bounce back in the fourth set, winning convincingly with a score of 25-11. However, the final set determined the winners, and Nepal fell short, losing 14-16, marking their fifth defeat in the tournament.

The championship concluded with Nepal suffering its sixth defeat at the hands of Uzbekistan.
