Neema and Deepak selected for World Games

Kathmandu – Nepali wushu players Neema Gharti Magar and Deepak Hamal have been selected for the World Games 2022. The two players will represent Nepal during the games to be held in Alabama, USA from July 7 to 17.

Nepal Wushu Association confirmed the participation of SAG gold medalist Neema Gharti Magar and Deepak Hamal. The association informed that the duo were selected by the World Wushu Federation and World Games Federation on the basis of their performance in international tournaments and their world ranking.

General Secretary of Nepal Wushu Association Lakhpa Chiring Sherpa informed that only Nepal and India have been selected for the World Games from South Asia.

“India bagged one quota for wushu while Nepal got two quotas,” said Sherpa.

Neema, who secured gold medals in the 12th and 13th editions of SAG, had also participated in the 14th and 15th editions of Wushu World Championship. She had also secured a bronze medal in Asian Traditional Wushu Championship 2021 and a silver medal in IWUF Taulo Virtual Championship 2021.

Deepak Hamal had participated in the 14th and  15th editions of Wushu World Championships. He finished among the top nine players among competitors from 56 countries. He had also secured bronze in the Asian Traditional Wushu Championship 2021.
