Kathmandu (Hamro Khelkud) – Hosts Malaysia have secured their spot in the final of the ACC Women’s Premier Cup by defeating Nepal in a semi-final thriller. Malaysia also earned a place in the ACC Women’s Asia Cup with a four-wicket win over Nepal.
Chasing a target of 116 runs, Malaysia achieved victory in the last over, reaching the target with six wickets down in 19.5 overs. Elsa Hunter’s half-century, with 69 runs off 53 balls, was instrumental in Malaysia’s win, with crucial two boundaries in the final over.
Despite Kabita Joshi’s two quick wickets, including that of key player Mahirah Ismail, Elsa Hunter’s innings ensured Malaysia’s victory. Nepal’s bowlers Sita Rana Magar and Kabita Joshi took two wickets each while Kabita Kunwar and Rubina Chhetri took one wicket each.
Earlier, Nepal, opting to bat first after winning the toss, posted 115 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Captain Indu Barma top-scored with 29 runs, supported by 23 runs from Kabita Kunwar, 20 runs from Rubina Chhetri, and 25 from Dolly Bhatt.
In the other semifinal, UAE clinched a four-run victory and booked their place in the tournament final.
