Kathamndu – Madesh Province stuns Lumbini Province by 92 runs to move closer to the semifinals of the ongoing Prime Minister Cup One Day National Cricket Tournament.
With 3 half centuries from Santosh Karki, Harishankar Shah, and Anil Sah, Madesh Province scored a total of 259 runs at Mulpani Cricket Ground. Opener duo Santosh Karki and Harishankar Shah shared a partnership of 130 runs before the fall of the first wicket.
Santosh collected 50 runs with 5 fours and 3 sixes. Harishankar added 76 off 90 deliveries with 13 fours and 1 six. Anil scored 50 off 49 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixers.
Rohan BK (7), Bibek Yadav (21), Mohammad Aadil Alam (12), Rupesh Singh (1), Bishal Shusling (0), Imran Sheikh (10), Rajesh Yadav (7), and Pradip Paswan added 1 run to the tally.
Lumbini’s Krishna Karki took 3 wickets, Anil Kharel 2, whereas Mohammad Husen, Dev Khanal, and Basir Ahamad took apiece.
In the other inning, Lumbini failed to chase the huge winning target of 260 runs. 3 wickets each from Rajesh Yadav and Pradip Paswan, 2 from Harishankar Shah, and a single from Rupesh Singh stopped Lumbini for 167 runs in 49.1 overs. Bishal Bikram KC added the utmost 34 runs for Lumbini.
Aakash Tripathi (8), Dev Khanal (9), Prajjwol Thapa (0), Sandeep Rajali (23), Basir Ahamad (15), Sunil Bhandari (0), Krishna Karki (31), Anil Kharel (15), and Mohammad Husen was dismissed for 15 runs. Avishek Gautam remained not out for 2 runs.
Following the second consecutive win, Madesh Province becomes the favorite to march on to the semifinals of the tournament. Madesh won against Province 1 in its first outing and it will now face Bagmati Province and Nepal Police Club to confirm its semifinal place.
